Interview with Brain 'Woody' Wood/ Harle
I would like to thank the very talented, harlewood for taking the time to answer my questions for this interview. This is a part of a series of interviews for the metalsmiths club here on DA. If you would like to read the previous interview with artist Stephen Fitz-Gerald, aka ou8nrtist2, it can be found here . Thank you for reading, and now for the interview...
Can you please introduce yourself for those who are not already familiar with your work? How long have you been creating jewelry?
I have been making jewelry of and on for longer than I care to remember. Originally a self taught jeweler, I was fortunate to be trained at the South Australian, Craft Authority’s, “Jam Factory” Jewelery Workshop. I studied under the master craftsmen Vagn Hemmingsen, from the George Jensen workshops and Frank Bauer, designer and metal smith.
One thing that I really appreciate about your work is that the

Interview with Metal Smith Stephen Fitz-Gerald
I would like the thank the artist, ou8nrtist2 for graciously agreeing to this interview. Hopefully, this is be the first of many, thank you everyone for reading :) And now without further ado...
First off, for those who are not familiar with your work, could you please introduce yourself?
My name is Stephen Fitz-Gerald. I have been doing metal sculpture and metal decorative arts for over thirty years. I was trained in my teens by my father who was himself a master sculptor.

I would venture to guess that most of us metal smiths here on DA, myself included, work primarily in non ferrous metals. Could you please elaborate on some of the challenges and rewards of working in steel? What are some of the techniques that you use in your pieces?
I work in all metals, actually. I also fabricate in regular or mild steel as much as I do in stainless steel. However, I seem to have some innate understanding of stainless in particula

Thank you. I love your enamel work. My next purchase after an upgraded torch kit is a small kiln. Enameling is probably my favorite means of putting image into my metal work.
